Liquorice has been a fixture of the British sweet jar for over four hundred years — ever since Dominican monks first cultivated it in the fields around Pontefract. Today we hand-pack over forty varieties from Evesham, Worcestershire: British classics, Nordic salmiak and Dutch drop.
British, Nordic & Dutch — the three great traditions
British liquorice is soft, sweet and richly molassed — think Pontefract Cakes, Liquorice Allsorts, torpedoes, twists and pipes. It's the backbone of our best-selling liquorice range, beautifully presented in our heritage gift boxes.
Nordic salmiak is the bold, savoury cousin — salted with ammonium chloride and adored across Finland, Iceland, Denmark and the Netherlands. Explore our salty liquorice collection and Nordic range.
Dutch-style liquorice sits beautifully in between — sweet enough for newcomers, characterful enough for the obsessed. We also carry fruity and red liquorice for those easing in, and raw liquorice with chocolate for the proper enthusiasts.
